BaşbakanlıkÕa bağlı ancak idari ve mali aÁılardan yeterli
düzeyde otonoma sahip bir kuruluş olan TüBiTAK, Türkiye'de
müsbet bilimlerde araştırma ve geliştirme faaliyetlerini ülke
kalkınmasındaki önceliklerine göre geliştirmek, özendirmek,
düzenlemek ve koordine etmek; mevcut bilimsel ve teknik bilgilere
erişmek ve erişilmesini sağlamak amacıyla 1963 yılında kurulmuştur.

Founded
in 1963, TİBiTAK is the supreme organization in charge of
promoting, developing, organizing and coordinating research
and development in the fields of exact sciences in Turkey
in line with the national targets of economic development
and technical progress. It functions under the umbrella
of the Prime Ministry with adequate administrative and financial
autonomy. TİBiTAK's President, Prof. Dr. Namık Kemal PAK,
talks to S&H on their past, present and plans for the
future.
