Bu yazımıza konu olan TCG Mareşal Fevzi «akmak [D-351], Kıbrıs
Barış HarekatıÕna katılmış ve deniz harp tarihimizde bir felaket
ile sonuÁlanan TCG KocatepeÕnin batışı olayında aynı grupta
TCG Adatepe ile birlikte bulunarak 5 saatlik hava hücumuna
direnmiş ve hayatta kalmayı başarabilmiştir. Bu yazımızda
TCG Mareşal Fevzi «akmakÕın bu olayını yaşıyanların ağzından
sizlere aktarmayı ve Kıbrıs Barış HarekatıÕndaki tüm şehitlerimizi

Story
of a Ship and its Commander
During
the Cyprus Peace Operation on July 21, 1974, Turkish Air
Force [TuAF] strike packages consisting of F-100D and F-104G
fighters accidentally bombed a Turkish naval task force
in Cypriot waters consisting of the destroyers TCG Adatepe
[D-353], TCG Kocatepe [D-354] and TCG Mareşal Fevzi «akmak
[D-351]. During the five-hour air strike, while the crews
of the other two ships managed to save their ships, the
TCG Kocatepe [D-354] was sunk. In this issue we aim to present
the story of the TCG Mareşal Fevzi «akmak [D-351], which
resisted the air strikes and managed to survive, from the
survivors who lived to tell the tale of this catastrophic
case of fratricide fire and to commemorate all of the martyrs
of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
